Work Experience

2006 to Present: Project Manager, Application Security and Identity Management, Intel Information Risk and Security, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

Staff engineer, coordinating and participating in an holistic approach to a diverse set of risks, including legal/regulatory compliance (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, Privacy), business continuity, and information security, for Intel's enterprise-wide SAP replatformization and modernization efforts. Filed two Intel-sponsored U.S. Patent Applications for security inventions.

2006 to Present: Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician, South Bay Volunteer Fire Department, 3506 Shincke Road NE, Olympia, WA, 98506

Volunteer emergency responder, part of a 4-person team responsible for initial response to fire and emergency medical 911 calls in the South Bay area and adjoining jurisdictions via mutual aid. Overnight station duty every 9th day--nights, weekends, and holidays--and weekly training drills.

First level manager, overseeing a team of three information security specialists. Team was responsible for evaluating risks and countermeasures, formulating information security policy, penetration testing, and documenting information security procedures for the whole corporation. Management activities as before.

2005: Manager, Technical Investigation and Physical Security, Information Technology Risk and Compliance Management, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

First level manger, overseeing a team of five information security specialists. Team was responsible for technical investigations, penetration testing, mergers and acquisitions security, incident response, and assessments of emerging information security threats for the whole corporation. Management activities as before, with the added responsibilities of customer presentations supporting Intel's international sales force and managing the technical investigations portfolio budget.

2003 to 2004: Manager, Technical Investigation and Emergency Response, Information Technology Risk and Compliance Management, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

First level manager, overseeing an internationally dispersed team of four Information Security Technologists and Consultants. Team was responsible for incident response, technical investigations, penetration testing, mergers and acquisitions security, training and awareness materials development, and assessments of emerging information security threats for the whole corporation. Set goals, assign projects, manage performance, handle escalation, manage training, and perform other traditional management oversight activities.

2003: Senior Information Security Analyst, Information Technology Risk and Compliance Management, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

Worldwide Program Manager for penetration testing. Oversaw security alert evaluation and incident analysis for the entire corporation. Conducted worldwide security evaluation of Intel's manufacturing-support SCADA systems. Led technical investigations. Proposed and drove information security policy changes. Developed new risk modeling tools and assessment methodologies. Led worldwide teams to accomplish these tasks.

1999 to 2002: Information Security Specialist, Corporate Information Security, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

Performed detailed technical security evaluations of Intel computer systems (Unix, Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP) and networks, via vulnerability analysis and penetration testing. Performed strategic technical evaluation of products and services for the entire corporation. Analyzed and approved proposed firewall rules changes for the entire corporation. Designed and implemented security alert processing capability and incident response methodology. Wrote and adapted available tools to automate security testing. Assisted in security investigations of incidents with a significant technical component. Wrote and updated information security procedures, audit checklists, and other documentation.

1999: Systems Programmer, Performance Microprocessor Division (PMD) Computing, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

Administered AFS cell, EMC Symmetrix, Solaris Enterprise-class servers and other engineering computing infrastructure. Had primary responsibility for systems/network security, account administration, and cross-site software synchronization. Had collateral responsibility for Windows NT and Linux administration; teaching Unix classes; and maintaining Unix console environment. Cross site lead for chipset AFS infrastructure: researched, designed, specified, ordered, and installed server infrastructure and mentored/trained local administrators in its use.

1997 to 1998: Systems Analyst, High End Server Division, Intel Corporation 2800 Center Drive, DuPont, WA 98327

Administered ~90 Unix workstations and servers (Primarily Solaris and HP/UX; some AIX, SunOS, and IRIX) in an engineering computing environment. Supported Auspex NFS server, AFS cell, and NT Workstation 4.0 desktop applications. Maintained web pages, wrote perl and shell scripts, performed backups and retrievals, maintained printer and plotter queues, wrote and updated documentation. Administered Cadence, Pro/Engineer, and other CAD tools in this multi-platform environment, and assisted users with NT migration and integration issues. Specified and ordered software and hardware, traveled, and participated in and led cross-organizational task groups.

1995 to 1997: Office Systems Analyst II, World Vision U.S. 34834 Weyerhaeuser Way S., Federal Way, WA 98001

Team leader of four analysts taking, researching, resolving and tracking computer problems in a multi-platform, multi-lingual LAN/WAN environment. Administered Novell, NT, OS/2, Unix, and cc:Mail systems. Supported AS/400 midrange and Macintosh and Windows (3.11, 95, and NT 3.51) desktops.

1993 to 1995: Director of Computing, Puget Sound Christian College 410 4th Ave. N., Edmonds, WA 98020

Responsible for designing a campus-wide Local Area Network and resolving day-to-day computer problems throughout the campus. This required coordination with administration, faculty, staff, and vendors; performing need and cost/benefit analyses; and working within a limited budget.

1993 to 1995: Ministry Intern, Northwest Church of Christ 15555 15th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98155

Duties included assisting ministers, office management, planning and coordinating events, leading worship, and counseling. Implemented and managed Local Area Network and on-line email system.

Resolved trouble calls, managed local and wide area networks, designed and implemented databases, performed risk analyses, trained U.S. Coast Guard users and support personnel, and programmed custom applications. Position required travel and a security clearance.
